Kalamkari has a particular way of filling a space — vines running over vines, flowers opening inside other flowers, so the longer you look the more there is to find. This one is printed deep navy with rust and soft grey blooms. What makes it, though, is the neckline: the print cuts away in a scalloped curve to reveal a panel of rust orange underneath, finely pintucked, sitting at the centre like a piece of jewellery you don’t have to put on.
The cotton is light and breathable, cut in panels that shape it gently through the body and then release into an easy fall to 47 inches. Half sleeves gathered softly at the shoulder, no lining, and pockets set into the side seams.
An easy one for working days and long afternoons out. Rust or orange bottoms pick up the panel at the neck; , navy or black keeps it quieter.
